Website of the Month for October!

It’s fun to explore art and learn about artists by playing Getty Games

At this website, you can play Detail Detective, turn over ‘cards’ in Match Madness, find things that don’t match in Switch, or choose to use big or small pieces in Jigsaw Puzzles.  Click on the book icons to learn more about the art.

Before you know it, you will be familiar with famous works of art from the Getty Museum!  Then, learn to create your own works of art on bookmarks and masks.

Build Early Literacy Skills with Storyblocks

 Did you know, the simple act of singing a song or reciting a rhyme to your child will help them build early literacy skills?

In fact, parents can do so many simple things to help children build these vital skills even before they begin Kindergarten. If you would like to learn more, we recommend the website Storyblocks.

Storyblocks contains short video clips that model songs, rhymes and finger plays for parents to share with their children. Each video also includes a helpful tip to increase parents' understanding of early literacy needs. Storyblocks was created by the Colorado Libraries For Early Literacy.

In addition, parents are invited to attend Lullaby Together Time on April 11th with their children, ages birth to 17 months. Come and learn songs, rhymes, and calming finger plays to help little ones get ready for a nap or bedtime. Also enjoy 20 minutes of play with age-appropriate toys. Click here to register now.

New Website of the Month! - Dance Mat Typing

If you want to have fun while practicing your keyboarding skills, visit Dance Mat Typing.

Funny cartoon animals - such as a rock 'n' roll goat, a belly dancing hippo, and a yak with gongs! - will help you learn. You can practice typing letters, words, and punctuation. You can also work on using the space bar and shift keys.

There are 4 typing levels with lots of mini-lessons, so this website is for beginners and for kids who have keyboarding skills already.

If you make a typing mistake, some comical characters and voices will tell you how to fix it!
